This medal was awarded for service in the First World War. During the War Romania fought on the side of the Allies against Germany. Campaign bars denote particular battles where the recipient fought. Two different medals were issued; the 1915-1918 and the 1915-1919 varieties.

The collection: This is the 1916-1918 variant. It includes the correct ribbon, which has a pull on the reverse. I acquired it with a Marasesti Campaign Bar, however the ribbon is too wide for the bar. The ribbon is 38mm wide, while the bar is made to fit a 30mm ribboon, leading me to believe either the ribbon or the bar was replaced at some time.
